About South High Marathon Dance (SHMD)

South High Marathon Dance is a student-run, year-long fundraising program where high school students dedicate their time, energy, and hearts to raising money for individuals and families in our community who are facing serious medical challenges.

Throughout the year, the kids fundraise, volunteer, and build awareness — all leading up to the Marathon Dance event itself, where they stand (literally and figuratively) in support of the recipients they are helping. It’s about compassion, teamwork, and showing up for others when it matters most.

This year, this cause is especially close to our hearts. My dad is a Marathon Dance recipient, and seeing my kids take part in something so meaningful — helping raise money to support him and others — is incredibly powerful and humbling.
